When trying to connect to the email smtp server in Outlook Express, you may get the following error;
Error 501: invalid domain name" Error number: 0x800ccc63

Cause

  • The Computer Name in the network configuration contains punctuation.
  • Incorrect DNS settings used in the network configuration.

Fix
  • Change the computer name so it contains no punctuation.
  • Check the DNS settings.
